PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
